Will FTTC be impacted by the PSTN closure?

Yes. FTTC broadband will be impacted as there is no underlying WLR telephone service to support the broadband. BT Openreach are well underway on its fibre network and a full stop-sell of new PSTN services in 2023. Single Order Generic Ethernet Access (SoGEA) is the FTTC replacement.

FAQ FTTC section Image

Yes, FTTC Broadband will be impacted as there is no underlying WLR telephone service to support the broadband.

Everyone will have to switch to fibre; SoGEA or FTTP Broadband.

SoGEA and FTTC are very similar. SoGEA is essentially FTTC but without voice services. FTTP is a full fibre broadband connection.

All services linked to a phone line will be disconnected. Customers will need to move to an IP-based application. For information on providing a voice service over SoGEA visit My IP Voice.
